Eagle Ridge
Eagle Ridge is south Calgary's smallest luxury enclave, an affluent pocket of roughly 400 residents set on a peninsula that pushes into the Glenmore Reservoir. The community runs along 14 Street SW, with the reservoir wrapping its north, west, and south edges, so water and parkland form most of its borders rather than other neighbourhoods. Heritage Park Historical Village sits directly to the west on the bank, and Rockyview General Hospital anchors the north side.
Developed in the 1960s, Eagle Ridge was laid out as an estate community from the start, and it has stayed that way: fewer than 100 detached homes, no through-traffic, and almost no turnover in a given year. Kelvin Grove, Bel-Aire, and Mayfair sit nearby to the east and south, but the reservoir keeps Eagle Ridge quietly separate.
It remains one of Calgary's most expensive and least available neighbourhoods. Listings are rare, seven-figure prices are the floor, and when a property does trade it draws attention across the city's luxury market.
The Glenmore Reservoir defines outdoor life here. A roughly 16-kilometre pathway loops the water for walking, running, and cycling, and the adjacent Glenmore Sailing Club, Calgary Rowing Club, and Weaselhead Flats natural area put sailing, paddling, and birdwatching within reach. Heritage Park Historical Village sits on the western shore, and North Glenmore Park adds open green space just across the water.
The Eagle Ridge Community Association organizes local events and represents residents on planning matters. Commuting is straightforward: 14 Street SW and Elbow Drive feed north toward downtown, while Glenmore Trail runs east-west across the city's south and connects to Crowchild and Deerfoot Trail. Rockyview General Hospital is immediately north, and Chinook Centre with its Red Line CTrain station sits a short drive east.
Everyday shopping and dining centre on Glenmore Landing, about five minutes away, with grocery, pharmacy, and restaurants along the reservoir's east side. Chinook Centre, one of Calgary's largest malls, offers full retail and dining a few minutes farther east, and the boutiques and eateries of Britannia Plaza on Elbow Drive add an upscale local option to the north. Downtown's restaurant scene is a quick commute.
