Inglewood
Inglewood is Calgary's original townsite — the city was platted here in 1875, and the 9th Avenue commercial strip is the oldest continuous retail district in the city. The community sits on a peninsula formed by the Bow and Elbow rivers, which means almost every street is within 4 blocks of a river pathway.
Housing is a mix of restored craftsman bungalows on small lots, mid-century walk-up condos, and a growing infill duplex/skinny inventory. Pricing has roughly doubled since 2015 as the 9th Avenue strip emerged as one of Calgary's strongest food + retail districts.
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, Pearce Estate Park, and the Bow River pathway are the outdoor anchors. The river loops the community on three sides.
Colonel Walker School (K-9). Bishop Grandin and Western Canada High are the catchment options. The community association has an active rink and outdoor programming.
9th Avenue SE between 11th and 14th Streets is the spine — Rosso Coffee, Spolumbo's, Without Papers, Two Penny, Plant Geek, dozens of independent retailers. Notable music venues: Ironwood Stage, Festival Hall.
