Hillhurst
Hillhurst sits west of Sunnyside on the north bank of the Bow, with a streetscape of mature elms and turn-of-the-century vernacular homes. The community shares the Kensington commercial strip with Sunnyside and feeds into the same school catchments, but the housing stock skews slightly older and the lots are slightly larger.
The neighbourhood has been one of Calgary's strongest infill markets since 2010. Recent skinny and duplex construction has steadily replaced post-war bungalows on the interior streets, with the western edge near 14 Street holding the highest concentration of original homes.
Riley Park is the dominant green space — outdoor pool, sports fields, summer concert series. The Bow River pathway runs the southern edge. McHugh Bluff connects east toward Crescent Heights.
Hillhurst School (K-6) and Queen Elizabeth School (7-12) cover the public catchment. The Bow Cliffs YMCA and Kensington's gyms provide fitness amenities.
Kensington Road's full retail and dining strip is at the southern edge. 14 Street NW provides additional everyday retail.
