    THE STORY

Patterson sits on Calgary's western escarpment, a west-side community defined by the ridge it's built on. The land drops roughly 300 feet toward the Bow River valley, and homes along the rim look north across the river and east to the downtown skyline. Sarcee Trail forms the eastern edge, Bow Trail SW the north, Old Banff Coach Road the south, and 85 Street SW the west, with Paskapoo Slopes and Patterson Woods wrapping the community's green flank.

Established in 1983 on land that was once acreage held by the Patterson family, the community grew into a settled, tree-lined enclave. It earned a footnote in the city's history when Patterson Heights served as the media village for the 1988 Winter Olympics; those units were later converted to condominiums and became some of the neighbourhood's first homes. Today Patterson reads as one of west Calgary's quieter established addresses, sitting above the busier commercial corridors of Signal Hill and West Springs.

In Calgary's market, Patterson holds a position most west-side communities can't match: mature landscaping, genuine topography, and skyline views within a fifteen-minute drive of downtown.

    OUTSIDE

The escarpment is Patterson's backyard. Patterson Woods and the Paskapoo Slopes form a wooded corridor that connects, via a pedestrian underpass beneath Sarcee Trail, to Edworthy Park and the Bow River pathway. The Douglas Fir Trail runs the wooded ridge below, threading past a rare stand of old-growth Douglas firs several centuries old. Within the community, quiet crescents, playgrounds, and ridge-top lookouts give residents everyday access to some of west Calgary's best river-valley terrain.

    AMENITIES

The Patterson Heights Community Association runs local programming and events for residents. Commuting is a genuine strength: Bow Trail SW carries drivers downtown in roughly fifteen minutes, while Sarcee Trail links north to Market Mall, Crowfoot, and the Trans-Canada, and south toward Signal Hill and 17 Avenue SW. The 69 Street SW LRT station, terminus of the West Line (Blue Line), sits just beyond the community's southwest edge, putting car-free downtown access within easy reach.

    SHOP & DINE

Everyday shopping and dining sit minutes away on every side. Aspen Landing Shopping Centre and West Springs Village to the southwest offer grocers, cafes, and sit-down restaurants, while Signal Hill Centre and Westhills to the south cover big-box retail, groceries, and services. Across the river via Sarcee Trail, Market Mall adds full-scale shopping and dining. For quick trips, the commercial nodes along Bow Trail put coffee, pharmacies, and essentials close at hand.
