Sunnyside
Sunnyside sits between Hillhurst and Crescent Heights on the north bank of the Bow River, the residential complement to the Kensington commercial strip. The community is Calgary's densest non-Beltline neighbourhood and has the highest walkability score in the city outside the downtown core.
Housing is roughly half single-family, half low-rise condo. The single-family inventory is mostly post-war character on 25-40 foot lots, with infill duplexes increasingly common. Condo inventory ranges from 1970s walk-ups to a small handful of modern mid-rises.
Riley Park sits at the western edge with a public pool, cricket pitch, and outdoor concerts in summer. The Bow River pathway runs the southern edge with the Peace Bridge connecting to Eau Claire.
Hillhurst School (K-6) and Queen Elizabeth School (7-12) cover the public catchment. Madeleine d'Houet provides French Immersion options. Several Catholic schools serve the community.
Kensington Road and 10 Street NW form the L-shaped retail spine: Pulcinella (the original), Container Bar, Made by Marcus, Vine Arts Wine, Higher Ground Coffee, Hayden Block.
