Rideau Park is one of Calgary's smallest and most private inner-city communities, wrapped by a bend of the Elbow River in the city-centre and bordered by 26 Avenue SW to the north, Erlton Place SW to the south, Macleod Trail to the east, and the river itself to the west. Established in 1911, the community takes its name from the French word for curtain, a nod to the mature tree canopy that screens its winding streets. Land developer Dr. Neville Lindsay began a river-ridge estate here in the early 1900s, and remnants of that ambition still mark the area's heritage character alongside Edwardian, Tudor Revival, and Colonial Revival homes.

The 4th Street BIA corridor covers cafes, spas, and specialty grocers, while downtown Calgary's full retail core is a short drive or CTrain ride away.
