Bayside (Airdrie)
Bayside is Airdrie's waterfront community, built around an engineered canal network on the city's south side. It sits west of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway and is framed by 8 Street SW on the west, with Yankee Valley Boulevard SW carrying most traffic in and out along the north edge. Bayside Boulevard SW runs as the internal spine, threading past the canals, pedestrian bridges, and pathway loops that give the community its resort-like character.
Developed largely through the 2000s and 2010s, Bayside is the only true canal-front neighbourhood in Airdrie, and many homes back directly onto the water. Residents kayak and paddleboard in summer and skate or play shinny on the frozen canals in winter. It neighbours Reunion, Baysprings, Baywater, and Bayview, forming a cluster of newer communities on Airdrie's growing southwest side.
Roughly 15 to 20 minutes north of Calgary via Highway 2, Bayside draws buyers who want detached family space and water frontage at a price point well below comparable lake communities inside the city, keeping it a steady performer in the wider Calgary-area market.
The canal system is the community's signature, with winding waterways, footbridges, and connected pathways that link into Airdrie's wider trail network. Generous greenspace, playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields sit throughout the neighbourhood, and Nose Creek Park, Airdrie's largest park with its regional pathways and open space, is a short drive north for festivals, ball diamonds, and creekside walking.
Bayside is served by an active residents' association and connects easily to the rest of Airdrie. Yankee Valley Boulevard SW and 8 Street SW are the main arteries, feeding directly onto the Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2) for the commute south to Calgary or north through town. Airdrie Transit routes and regional ICE express service to Calgary run nearby, and the Genesis Place recreation centre with its pools, arenas, and fitness space is minutes away.
Everyday shopping sits minutes away at Sierra Springs Shopping Centre and Kingsview Market, both anchored by major grocery, pharmacy, and big-box retail. Dining nearby includes State & Main at Kingsview Market, MR MIKES SteakhouseCasual off Yankee Valley Boulevard, plus Montana's BBQ & Bar and Boston Pizza. Downtown Airdrie's independent cafes and restaurants add more character a short drive north, and Calgary's full retail is 20 minutes down Highway 2.
